I am looking for an inexpensive (<$3000) frame buffer for a Qbus Microvax II running UNIX. The minimum requirements are 512x512x8bits, 8bit DACs for each of RGB, 24bit LUT, 60Hz noninterlaced operation and some hope of rapidly downloading images (at least DMA). I have look at an inexpensive Peritek, but it seems to run only at 30Hz and doesn't have DMA, but a small bus window interface. (How well does this type of interface work ?) I am also aware of a Data Translation unit, DT2651, which appears to fit the bill, and has in addition a frame grabber input, and limited ALU capabilities, as well as an option for an add-on image processor. Has anyone tried this board ? Other suggestions ? I'm about to call Imaging Tech and Datacube, but my impression is that their stuff is more expensive (but probably better). Thanks.
