I'm looking for a software package to sort out different pens or pen colors in HPGL. It should run on a Sun 3 and/or IBM PC. (In other words, it should massage the code to group all the pens of one color together and save plotting time.) Thanks, Pooh pooh@oddjob.uchicago.edu "I have no coin, and I must flip."

re: "I'm looking for a software package to sort out different pens or pen colors in HPGL." You didn't mention the make and model of plotter. Before investing a lot of time and energy in host software for the task, be sure to make sure that the plotter itself does not do pen sorting. For example, the HP 7570A DraftPro and 7595/96A DraftMaster plotters perform pen sorting on-board. I presume that other HP-GL clone plotters may offer it. It's even possible that your plotter vendor offers it as a firmware upgrade to an existing non-sorting plotter (HP does not).
