We are in the process of more than doubling our disk capacity on our server 800mb to about 3.2gb( watch that math ) and will require some reasonable device with which to do backups with. I have decided that 3200 bpi won't work, reason is obvious; One of patience. 6250 bpi tape drives could be used but the number of tapes is still quite large for a full backup. What I am looking for is a reasonable alternative. A tape drive based upon video recorder technology is currently being tested on our VAX( An EXOBYTE ). Has anybody tried these things on there SUN's. If so did you have any problems? Are you satisfied and did you buy one? Send all flames and replies to R. Kasperski Alberta Research Council kasper@arcsun kasper@noah.arc.cdn
