RE: > Does anybody have any information on how to hook up DEC RM05's > to an Alliant FX/8 with a Xylogics 451 controller? Someone mentioned in SunSpots that DEC's version of the 9766 was modified so it probably wouldn't work with the 451. On the other and, I have a System Industries 9766 hooked up to a 451 on a Sun. Mine is set up for 823 cylinders (counting 2 as spare), 19 heads, 32 sectors/track (counting 1 for sliping), and 630 bytes/sector (counting overhead). I think 33 sectors/track would give a runt that is too small for the 451 to deal with. What I haven't been able to figure out is why my Super Eagle won't work with the 9766. I finally just moved it to another system. Here is a little table I drew up that helped me: ----------------- .\" tbl | (p)troff -me .po 1.0i .ll 6.5i .ps +3 .ft B .ce Comparison of Fujitsu 2361A, CDC 9766, and XYLOGICS 451 A cable pinouts .ce \n(mo/\n(dy/\n(yr .ft R .ps -3 .sp 2 .TS center allbox; c c c c c c l l l c.
