I've recently seen some ad's in Computer Shopper with people selling (surplus?) Sears FAX machines that can also be copiers. I'm curious about what sort of hacking I can do on that machine ... specifically, there is probably some sort of processor in there which knows how to deal with bitmaps. Attached in with it would be a digitizer and a FAX modem. I suppose that for the copier mode it digitizes an image then routes it internally to the print engine. Anybody know? Mainly though, does anybody know what sort of laser engine is inside the box? Is it something that I could buy something like the Jlaser board -- i.e. a board to fit into a PC bus (or preferably an Amiga 2000 bus, but the PC pus would do) -- and I instantly have a laser printer hooked to my Amiga? Maybe at the cost of a little bit of cable swapping so that the fax machine could again be used for fax?
