[comp.periphs] Disk recommendations

Does anyone have any disk recommendations for a VAX 8600 ??
We'll put the drives on a Massbus controller, probably with
an Emulex controller. We're running 4.3 BSD.

History - we currently have 4 Fujitsu Eagles on an Emulex SC780
on a 785 and love them. *No* problems whatsoever in 4 years.
(Don't ask me about our experience with RA81's.)
However, rather than just buying another SC780 and more Eagles,
I figured the technology must have improved since we bought the
Eagles 4 years ago. We'd be interested in something faster,
smaller and larger capacity per spindle. Please note that
*reliability* is our first criteria (I'm tired of restoring
filesystems onto RA81s after HDA replacements).

There are higher density/smaller package drives than the SuperEagles
these days. For example, Sun now delivers 900MB Hitachi SMD drives
on their equipment. This drive ought to work with the Emulex controller
with only minor UNIX drive changes.
