Can anyone point me to a source for the NuBus specification? I understand it is IEEE-1196, and that it is used in the Mac II. I'd like to evaluate the bus for possible use in a workstation design... Thanks. Bdale Garbee winfree!bdale, or bdale@net1.ucsd.edu

Regarding your query about the NuBus, I suggest you buy a copy of apple's "Designing Cards and Drivers for Macintosh II and MacIntosh SE". It has overviews of the Mac-NuBus combined architectures as well as signal, timing, features, definitions, arbitration, and NuBus Card electrical Design guide (separate chapters on electrical and physical, and firmware). And then more on the device drivers from the Mac and even a few design examples. The latter include hardware and software examples. Volume V of Inside MacIntosh might be helpful as well. However, these books (there is a set of 5) besides the "Designing Cards ...MacInntosh SE" book aren't free. At Fry's they discount them and the price is still $17 - $20 apiece. The good news is that they are - at least I think so, so far- fairly well written. Have fun Jeff
