[comp.periphs] cheap source for disks

rick@seismo.CSS.GOV (Rick Adams) (01/04/89)

If you are looking for a source for winchester disks (including
Fujitsu and CDC), I'd recommend checking out "Clayton Computer Systems".

They advertise in the various DEC related rags. Their prices
are consistantly 20% under the other resellers. I've been a little
suspecious of that, but I finally went ahead and bought from them.

I got a Fuji 2344K (8" 690 MB) for $4,800 (new!). This was $1,800 less
that anywhere else I found. It's been installed and running for a month
now on a Sequent S81 with no problems. (other that Sequent's stupidity
of forcing you to type in the manufacturers flaw map instead of
reading it from the disk like everyone else...)

Here are some sample Fujitsu prices for new drives:
	2333K	8"	337MB	$3,000
	2344K	8"	690MB	$4,800
	2372K	8"	824MB	$4,900
	2351A 10"	474MB	$3,200
	2361A 10"	690MB	$6,500

I'd buy from them again.
