Anyone heard of a company called "Nemonix" in Hopkinton, Mass. ?? They just called me concerning their 8600 upgrade. They plug some kind of accelerator in to the 8600 and claim a 36% improvement. As you might of heard, DEC is shutting down the 8600/8650 production lines this summer, so there will probably be a *lot* of people doing the 8600->8650 DEC upgrade ($100,750 list). DEC claims a 44% improvement from the 8600 to the 8650. Nemonix sell their accelerator for $34,995, so if it really works it's an interesting choice. Nemonix claim their unit disconnects from the CPU trivially, so it doesn't affect maintenance. Nemonix have apparently been in business for a while, selling these kind of accelerators for the 750 and 780, plus memory boards for the VAX'es. Anyone have any experience with them and their products ? Richard Stevens Health Systems International, New Haven, CT stevens@hsi.com ... { uunet | yale } ! hsi ! stevens

We've had a Nemonix memory board in a VAX for a while and a very pleased. I experienced some problems with stuff from other vendors, but this board has never so much as sneezed. Apart from that, I can't say to much about the company except that I've never heard anything bad about them.
