[comp.periphs] above board ps/286 vs above board plus i/o

I have the opportunity to replace an older "above board ps/286" (with a 2M piggy
back) in my pc (acer 1100 16Mhz running Microport Unix Sys/386 3.0e) with a
newer "above board plus i/o". What i want to know is "Why should i do this?"

Are there any advantages that you know of that would make it worth it for me to
move all the memory chips from the ps/286 to the "plus i/o" board? Is it
faster? Better? Better diagnostics?? More reliable?

The only thing that i have been able to tell so far as far as differences go is
that the "plus i/o" board accepts, in addition to the 2M piggy back, a 6M piggy
back. This doesn't help me since i don't have a 6M piggy just lying around.

If there aren't any good reasons, i should just leave sleeping dogs lie and
leave the ps/286 board in place... right?

derek
