Hello, I'm currently searching for a telefax which can be coupled to a Unix machine ( A Sun in particular ). I would like to have the following functionality : - Incoming faxes have to be sent to the local laser-writer printer instead of being printed on the normal thermal paper. - Previewing of incoming faxes on the screen ( not really an important requirement since there exists postscript-previewers ). - Texts from the normal tex-processors have to be sent away using the fax ( without first printing and scanning them ). In fact, it would be nice to feed the fax with postscript since all our tex-processing is printed on a postscript printer. - Scanned images have to be faxed. ( Of course ) - It would be nice to be able to have OCR software which understands the scanned format ( and the format of incoming faxes ). Is there any company which sells this stuff, or parts of it ? Best regards, Francois Staes Nederlands Philips Bedrijven PASS - AIT HCM503 P.O. Box 218 NL - 5600 MD Eindhoven. Some discussion of fax equipment, including information about technical specs, interfacing to unix systems, and a bunch of other stuff, is going on in alt.fax. You might check your back postings in that group for more info. I don't know if it makes it to Europe or not, though I hope it would. -- Edward Vielmetti, U of Michigan
