Are there any third-party font-vendors who supply their fonts in HP DeskJet cartridges? I've looked at HP's rather limited selection of DeskJet font cartridges, and haven't been too impressed... I find their TmsRmn distinctly inferior to Adobe's Times-Roman, for example. I'd really like to find the Palatino font (or a lookalike) in a DeskJet cartridge. DeskJet-compatible softfonts would be another possibility. I have the technical documentation for the softfont data/file format, and could perhaps take a LaserJet soft-font and translate it into DeskJet format. Seems like a lot of work, though, and HP warns that such converted fonts may result in too-light characters unless manually edited. Also, I'm using the DeskJet with a Macintosh, and the driver I use doesn't have a softfont-downloading capability... I'd need to write a downloader myself, I guess. -- Dave Platt FIDONET: Dave Platt on 1:204/444 VOICE: (415) 493-8805 UUCP: ...!{ames,sun,uunet}!coherent!dplatt DOMAIN: dplatt@coherent.com INTERNET: coherent!dplatt@ames.arpa, ...@uunet.uu.net USNAIL: Coherent Thought Inc. 3350 West Bayshore #205 Palo Alto CA 94303
