I am very happy to report that after working with the people at Acer they have come up with a ROM upgrade for the LP-76 laser printer. The Acer people were very concerned and responsive once the technical people got the charge to bring the printer to 100% compatibility with the industry standard. The ROM upgrade for the LP-76 allows the LP-76 to handle the so called "incremental font download" capability which is found in the HP LaserJet Plus and Series II. This brings the Acer LP-76 much closer (if not all the way) to being 100% compatible with the HP LaserJets. This also allows JetRoff to work with this printer without having to stand on its head. This was condensed from Acer: The mechanism that is being put in place to upgrade the LP-76 ROMs is that the customer will contact Acer Service at (800) 445-7172 or (800) 638-2237. The new LP-76 ROM's, 2.6 (A7), are being shipped in the new units (I don't know about the warehoused units). I waited two weeks after Acer Service was notified about the new ROMs before making this post, so they should know about it. -- Rick Richardson | JetRoff "di"-troff to LaserJet Postprocessor|uunet!pcrat!dry2 PC Research,Inc.| Mail: uunet!pcrat!jetroff; For anon uucp do:|for Dhrystone 2 uunet!pcrat!rick| uucp jetroff!~jetuucp/file_list ~nuucp/. |submission forms. jetroff Wk2200-0300,Sa,Su ACU {2400,PEP} 12013898963 "" \d\r\d ogin: jetuucp
