I anticipate having a sun workstation (a sparcstaion or 3/80) in a dept which has mostly DOS based pc's. The machine will have an internal internal 3.5in floppy which can read/write dos disks, but there will probably be times when I'll want to read or write a 5.25in floppy. Two questions: 1) Can a 5.25in floppy be hooked up to a SCSI port? I've seen references to adaptac's SCSI to etc boards. Will any of these work with a cheapo 360K disk drive? (these drives are a dime a dozen anymore). Anyone know where to get a catalog and/or specs on these boards? 2) Just how (in)compatible are the 3.5 and 5.25 inch drives? The sun's have a floppy controller on the motherboard; what is the chance that I could splice into the cable, connect up a second floppy, and get it to work? Thanks in advance for any info. -Jeff Norden, norden@ace.cs.ohiou.edu Dept of Math, Ohio Univ, Athens OH 45701 In these troubled times of mail incompatibility, you may need to use: norden%ace.cs.ohiou.edu@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu or ...!att!oucsace!norden If all else fails, I am also known as jeff@marge.math.binghamton.edu
