[comp.periphs] Erasable optical disks

rcb@cccvs1.ncsu.edu (Randy Buckland) (06/17/89)

I am looking for any information (recommendations, warnings, company contact
info) about erasable optical disk drives. I need drives with a built-in SCSI
interface.

Hewlett-Packard has an erasable optical drive available with SCSI.

HP has introduced a 2x325 Mbyte stand-alone single-platter SCSI drive based
on the Sony mechanism and using the continuous-composite format. Ask your
local sales office for information about product C1701A.

We have also announced a 32-platter autochanger, also SCSI. Technical
details are only available for the OEM version at present. I don't have the
product number handy.
