I'm looking for information about the availability and function of intelligent archive software running under Unix (SunOS 4 on Sun 4 to be specific) for the Exabyte drive. By "intelligent archive" software, I mean software that will automatically identify files that have not been accessed for some period (set by a configuration script), copy these files to the Exabyte tape, then remove the files from disk. Also, it should maintain a catalog of the files on archive tapes (including version information), and provide a user interface for requesting the return of one or more files. Finally, the software should have a facility to take advantage of the Exabyte's fast strip search capability. Does such a best exist? If so, can anyone send me advice and contacts? Please mail responses; I'll summarize if there's interest. My apologies if this has been a recent discussion item. My site just got news. phil +-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | Phil Fernandez | philf@metaphor.com | | | ...!{apple|decwrl}!metaphor!philf | | Metaphor Computer Systems |"Does the mind rule the body, or does the body| | Mountain View, CA | rule the mind?
