We've got a couple of Exabyte tape drives hooked to our Suns, and one
of our researchers is currently using some tapes for semi-long-term
data archiving. He's heard rumors that the life of the 8mm tapes is
about 3 months (sounds pretty fishy to me), and he's starting to worry
about the integrity of the data he's stored on the tapes.
Does anyone have any idea what the 'shelf-life' of the Sony 8mm Media
is ? How long will the data be 'readable' by the drive after the tape
is written ???
Any data/help is much appreciated.
