Thanks to the gracious contributions of disktab entries, I managed to format the WREN IV (94171-9) we bought. However, we now have an odd problem with booting. The NeXT freezes during boot after printing SCSI 53C90A Controller, Target 7, as sc0 at 0x2014000 If I then hit the Power key, and reply "n" to the resultant query, the machine continues to boot. Seems to me the SCSI controller is confused. Could this be the result of using incorrect disktab parameters? There are no problems reading or writing the disk thereafter. Please let me know if you've experienced a similar problem. ---- We have another problem with building the disk. The builddisk script cannot seem to read some of the important /usr/template files. I imagine this has something to do with the fact that we're running the machine as a diskless node while trying to format its drive. I'd hate to have to pop an OD out of another machine to get the WREN formatted, but it looks like I'll have to try that next. Any ideas? In the meantime, I've named the WREN "swapdisk", and it's working fine (save for the above problem). I kind of like the idea of having 300 meg of swap space... ---- Any help with either of the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roger Rosner Lighthouse Design, Ltd. Ya! lookupd will love you, Just imagine how much memory it will be able to snarf before device full errors begin. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> :-{ :-\<> Russell Cattelan University of Minnesota <> <> :-} :-`) <> cattelan@umn-cs.cs.umn.edu <> <> :-) :-( <> {...!rutgers!umn-cs!cattelan} <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
