I'd like to get a few opinions out there, please. We've got a Matrix 6000 film recorder, that we have had for about 4 months, and we've been having some problems with getting the whole workstation screen image to record on to film. Our workstation is a SGI 4D (1280x1024 resolution). Apparently some clipping is happening on all four sides of the screen, but when you look at the image on the internal flat screen inside the Matrix (not an easy task, you have to tape open the shutter cover, etc., messy business), the whole image does seem to be there. In speaking with Matrix about this, of course they had no idea what the problem was, and four months later, it turns out that they shipped us the "full-frame" 35mm camera back option, when we should have gotten the "standard" 35 mm option, which it turns out had been discontinued. The explaination had something to do with the aspect ratio of the slide not equaling that of the hi-res screen. Matrix said that they have since re-instated this standard option and can swap what we got with it. Which I guess is ok, and I suppose that we will now have some black margins on the slide to account for the different aspect ratios. Does any of this seem right? Is there a better configuration that we should be asking for? I'm a little frustrated that we have to go through all this when we spent $15,000 for a "sophisticated" piece of equipment. Thanks for any advice.
