I'm looking for solutions to my backup dilemma which is basically that I'm tired of spinning hundreds of tapes to backup 20 systems totalling well over 30 gigabytes of data. We are considering 8mm, DAT, and possibly optical solutions. I've heard mixed reviews on the Exabyte 8mm technology. Basically, some users of the Exabyte drives have a lot of problems with the hardware and in some cases have been unable to restore what they had backed up. Users have also voiced concern about Exabyte being the only manufacturer of this technology. If you have experience with these media, especially info on reliability and actual performance (capacity and transfer rates) I'd be grateful for any information. Thank you.
