[comp.periphs] Need Help with a Modem on UNIX System V.

tericks@plains.NoDak.edu (Terry Erickson) (08/11/90)

Greetings,

     I am having a small problem with a Multi-Tech V32 modem. I am

attempting to log into this modem, attached to an NCR 32/600 tower

running UNIX System V, with a modem at a slower baud rate (i.e. 2400).

The serial port on the NCR tower is set to 19200 as is the serial port

on the modem. The Multi-Tech modem is set at Auto Baud adjust and

getting loads of information from the tower and trying to send it over

the line at a slower baud rate. It works fine for most of the

information passed. BUT if a larger file is "CAT"ed it decides after a

random amount of time, to just STOP. The process of the tower doesn't

stop, the modem simply quits, like the buffer has come to an end. I

have tried setting the flow control to Xon/Xoff with no luck. Does

anyone know of a setting for the modem or tower that will tell the tower

to dump the info at a slower rate, but still be set to 19200 at the

serial port and Auto Baud adjust, or just some way to fix this problem??

                          Any suggestions are welcome.

                                 Thanks in advance,
                                       Terry Erickson
