I need to find the DIP switch information for a *serial* HP ThinkJet printer, model HP 2225D. I've been able to find the manual for the parallel version, but it only includes 1 of the 2 DIP switches. That switch sets the printer mode, and I believe the second one sets the baud rate and parity, and perhaps the protocol for the serial port. My eternal gratitude to whoever sends me a copy of the switch table. ================================================================================ dennis p. harris bitnet: jsdph@alaska.edu "The nation that controls magnetism controls the Universe." --- Diet Smith ================================================================================

I'd settle for a beer if I ever make it to Alaska :-) My copy of the HP 2225D manual has the following information in Appendix A and I. You should have two banks of switches, a set of 8 mode switches and a set of 5 RS-232C switches. Each bank is numbered with switch 1 being the closest to the power switch. Mode switches: Switch 1: Carrige Return Definition. Up - CR/LF Down - CR only Switch 2: Line Feed Definition. Up - CR/LF Down - LF only Switch 3: Perforation Skip Mode. Up - 1 inch perforation skip Down - No skip Switch 4: Page Length. Up - 12 inches Down - 11 inches Switch 5: Control Sequence Mode. Up - Alternate Down - HP Alternate is Epson MX-80/MX-100 or IBM Graphics Printer Switch 6 thru 8: Character Set Selection. 6 7 8 | Character Set -------------------------------------------------- down down down | Roman-8 up down down | United States Ascii down up down | Swedish up up down | IBM 8 down down up | French up down up | German down up up | United Kingdom up up up | Spanish RS-232C switches: Switch 1: Handshake Mode. Up - DTR Down - XON/XOFF Switch 2 and 3: Parity Settings 2 3 | Parity Word Length --------------------------------------------- down down | None 8 [or Zero & 7] up down | Odd 7 down up | Even 7 up up | ONEs 7 Switch 4 and 5: Baud Rate Settings. 4 5 | Baud Rate --------------------------------------------- down down | 9600 up down | 19200 down up | 2400 up up | 1200 I hope this helps. If you need more information, let me know. As always, HP pays people to provide official information. I am not one of them. This is provided without warantee, see Mom with any problems. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bob Campbell Some times I wish that I could stop you from campbelr@hpda.cup.hp.com talking, when I hear the silly things you say.
