[comp.periphs] Apple II interface - 7 input/4 output - Build at home

scameron@hpuxa.ircc.ohio-state.edu (Stephen M. Cameron) (02/05/91)

To all of you that replied to my first posting, thanks for the
great response. I'm sorry for the delay, it seems that I had a typo
in by return address (so the mail was delayed a couple days).

For those of you that did not have a chance to see my first post-
ing for this information, I will post it again.

I have come a crossed an interface for that Apple II family of
computers that allows you to monitor up to 7 inputs and control
up to 4 outputs. A company named, Camcom Software, has put out a
step by step manual that shows you how to build the monitor/control
circuit for about $20.00 worth of Radio Shack parts.

I used the plans and methods in this manual to construct a
greenhouse interface, as a science fair project in high school and
ended up with a couple of college scholarships out of the deal.

Those of you who requested more information about this, I sent the
following copy of a press release that I have about the book.

If anyone needs any more info let me know, as a true Apple buff
I'll be happy to send you any info you need.

Any info: email me or send a SASE

Here is a copy of the press release and order form that I
have from the book's publisher.

              Interfacing your Apple Computer
(How to give new life to an older Apple)

Researchers at Camcom Software have compiled their
interfacing research into an easy to follow, step by step manual
which shows you how to interface your Apple II, II+, or IIe
computer with the real world.

This manual contains all of the necessary instructions for
building, testing and operating an interface that can monitor up
to seven inputs and control as many as four outputs. Included
with the manual is an unprotected disk which contains all of the
software required for monitoring and control interface.

With this manual, a simple input/output interface can be
constructed in less than an hour and for under $20.00 worth of
Radio Shack parts. Once the circuit construction is complete, you
may use the disk provided to test and operate the circuit or
customize the software to suit your own need.

Topics discussed in this manual include:

        - Safety steps
        - Sensor Inputs (Light, Temperature, and position)
        - Controller Outputs
        - Circuit Testing
        - Programming suggestions (If interested in customizing)
        - Applications

The intent of this book is to provide Apple enthusiasts with
a means of constructing an inexpensive interface with no
programming or electronics knowledge required. The price for
package (Instructional Manual and Software) is: $24.95 (post paid)
