We are in the process of obtaining several Unisys 6000/65 systems with 1GB+ disk drives (don't have the exact storage amount, sorry). As far as I know, these systems come with the (Unisys) standard 150MB cartridge tape drives and will be running SysVR3.2. Because some of our databases exceed 300MB, we would like to find a compatible tape drive that can write over, say 1GB, to a single tape. Then we could use cron to run unattended backups instead of having an operator come in to do it. I have talked with the people from Contemporary Cybernetics Group about their 8mm tape drives, but that was about a year ago. What I would like to ask the net is, has anyone had experience with Cybernetics or any other large-capacity tape drives on Unisys 6000 series computers, specifically the 6000/65. It's not that I'm too lazy to dial a bunch of phone numbers and talk to companies about their tape drives (or maybe it is :-), I'd just like to hear about real experiences. Thanks heaps! -- patti krizowsky e-mail: kriz@seq.uncwil.edu "Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?" - Hobbes, of Calvin &
