I'm working on a project that requires scanning some maps and viewing them on a X11 system. I have contacted several scanner distributors but none have tools under Unix for the simple scanning process. All suggest to use a DOS emulator to run their tools just to turn the image into a file, then return to Unix :-( This is inacceptable in my application :-) Has anyone had this same problem? What scanner were used? Any info would be helpfull. Thank you very much -- Enrico Badella Internet: eb@felix.sublink.org Soft*Star s.r.l. We are getting the codes for a scanner (Epson, I believe) which lives on a SCSI port, and SCO provides a driver interface. Since we're not trying to prove the inferiority of DOS we are scanning the stuff for now under DOSmerge, and may very well continue to do so. -- bill davidsen - davidsen@sixhub.uucp (uunet!crdgw1!sixhub!davidsen) sysop *IX BBS and Public Access UNIX moderator of comp.binaries.ibm.pc and 80386 mailing list "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward" -me
