[comp.periphs] RFC: Survey on Backup media

Hi,

I would like to run a survey of backup media and equipment used by
people on the net. 

This aim of this survey is determine :-

	* What equipment is currently in favour.

	* Reliabilty of equipment and media.

	* Convenience and speed of equipment.

	* Typical use of particular equipment.

If a similar survey has in fact been done before could somebody send me the
results. If not please answer the questionaire below.

I will compile responses and attempt to reveal trends and faults with
equipment.

Results will be posted to the net when sufficent responses have been
received to compile reasonable results or approx a 1 week if response is
low.

3) Date purchased.

3) Type and capacity of device media.

4) Media Price.

5) Reliability and life of media based on manufacturers recomendations
and your own experience.

8) Mean Time Before Failure based on manufacturers recomendations and
your own experience.

9) Backup regime.

	Total Disk Capacity to backup =
	
	* Full dumps
		- Number of tapes
		- Interval
		- Time taken (or speed of backup k/sec)
		- Number of failed tapes

	* Incrementals
		- Number of tapes
		- Interval
		- Number of failed tapes
