------------ I am posting this for someone with no direct access to USENET. Please reply to the address below: ------------------------------------- I need pointers to literature or implementations of 4.2bsd-based database systems built on top of the UNIX filesystem which are capable of handing some or all of: - fast i/o of large numbers of *varying length* records. - records sizes from a few bytes to many pages. - some provisions for locking. - some backup/checkpointing capability. - guarantees of atomicity of transactions. - traditional db concerns: verification, authentication, etc. Any information which anyone can provide about db systems which come close to fitting these requirements and are available for us to customize would be greatly appreciated.
