I know that the CEGB (for those outside the UK, this is the
UK's Central Electricity Generating Board) has done some work
on this in the Scientific Services Department in its
North-eastern Region. A report was produced called:

"A Touch-Sensitive Screen As An Interface For On-Line Control",
by Sutherland, Pringle and Carlin.

It documents the use of an upgraded VT103 in a power station
for operator control.

Garry - I don't seem to be able to reach you by mail, so I'll
post here.
(For everyone else, Garry asked where to get the report the I
referenced)

I suggest that you try either the CEGB's central library, or NE
Region Scientific Services Department, and ask for report NER/SSD/M/83/096.

I'm afraid that I don't have the other address!

Best of luck,
