[comp.cog-eng] the makeup of a human factors engineer

ria@pbhyc.PacBell.COM (Rich Anderson) (06/15/88)

I am interested in learning different views about skills necessary for
a good human factors professional/engineer. Where have views along these
lines (possibly in the form of curriculum discussions) been published?
What skills do you perceive as essential? Which universities have programs
that, when listed, provide an answer to my question? What requirements
for human factors specialists have been specified in the company for which
you work?

The best source of this information might be the directory of graduate
programs in human factors which was published by the Human Factors Society.
I know that this directory (which was prepared in 1985) is presently being
updated. I believe that the correct person to contact is Lois Smith,
Publications Manager, Human Factors Society, P.O. Box 1369, Santa Monica, CA
90406, or call (213) 394-9793.
