I now use the "computer windows" metaphor to help organize work at my desk. I have a number of swing-arm copy-stands some of which hold project folders. I them pull down when I need to work on a project. I pull more than one down if I need information from another project folder. I can pull these stands down in front of one another, push one to the back, or pull one to the front. I don't yet know how to make a hole appear where some of the corners overlapped, however. How important is this? There are also at least 20 sticky notes hanging within reach. Some are time sensitive notes, others hold permanent reference information (e.g., math recipes, correct spellings, and phone numbers), and some are "mail" from other sticky note posters. My trash recepticle looks remarkabley like the Mac icon used for deleting things. And, just like the Mac, I can empty it on demand or have a daemon do it for me overnight! There's a small box with exacto knives, erasers, chartpac halftones and tapes that serves as my tool pallette. It's all very WYSWIG, real-time, and easy to share with apparently low-IQ'd folks like those who stick with vi because don't want to grok emacs. If only I could get my desktop "computer windows" to check my spelling and add the columns of my spreadsheets ... Regards! David D. Stubbs Tektronix, Inc.
