I would appreciate receiving pointers to literature (McCormick-like books, journal or conference proceedings articles, etc.) that discuss the forms and speed with which interactive computing systems must (for various reasons) respond to (various kinds of) user input. I am not, however, instrested in information about tracking and pursuit tasks. My chief interests are perceived task complexity vs. delay tolerance (how long will people wait for various kinds of response to various kinds of tasks), the rate with which boredom sets in, and how I might mitigate against it.
