[comp.cog-eng] HCI Bibliography Update and CHI'91 Plug

perlman@cis.ohio-state.edu (Gary Perlman) (04/28/91)

The HCI Bibliography has just passed a megabyte of data, and recently
broke the 1500 record mark. The journal "Interacting with Computers"
is now online. I am a little surprised that material is being added
at a rate of 500 entries per month!

At CHI'91 in New Orleans, I will be discussing the HCI Bibliography
in two contexts. One is a poster session, and the other is a SIG
(Special Interest Group). The SIG has been tentatively scheduled for
Wednesday, but you should check the final program to be sure when and
where we will meet. In the SIG, I will describe the HCI Bibliography
and the SEI Curriculum Module for teaching User Interface Development.
John Burch will describe the journal "Abstracts in HCI." Join us.

                               ABSTRACT

Researchers, developers and educators are constantly in search of
more and better resources to help them with their work.
Publications are perhaps the most important of all resources,
whether they are in technical reports, journals, conference
proceedings, or even video reviews. There are many modes of
access, online or on paper, for free or for fee, of finding and
using resources. In this session we will focus on the types and
uses of HCI resources more than their development or
dissemination. Participants will leave with a better knowledge
of what resources are available and how to use them more effectively.
