I feel quite helpless trying to evaluate a modem because there is no published parameters on how immune it is to line noise. There was one issue of pc magazine where they actually tested several 2400 baud modems on how much line noise they can tolerate. Turned out that the more expensive models generally scored better than the cheaper ones. That was great, except they only tested a few modems. Do anyone else have these kind of data? I mean, when a big corporation (or the government) buys modems, don't they test these things first? peter ------------------------------------------------------------------------ uucp: {akgua|allegra|harvard|ihnp4|seismo|topaz|ucbvax}!uwvax!uwmacc!pwu arpa: pwu@unix.macc.wisc.edu bitnet: WU at WISVMACC -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ uucp: {akgua|allegra|harvard|ihnp4|seismo|topaz|ucbvax}!uwvax!uwmacc!pwu arpa: pwu@unix.macc.wisc.edu bitnet: WU at WISVMACC
