[comp.dcom.modems] problem modem

I have a person here on campus that purchased a bundle from PC Network. The
modem that they gave him was a 300/1200 EVEREX (sp?) internal 1/2 card modem.

When using many packages (older version of kermit, yterm, smartcomII) the modem
worked fine, BUT . . .

He wanted to use kermit 2.29 (the VT102 emulation) and there we had problems.

No matter what we did (you name it, we tried to set it!), once we connected,
nothing happened! No commands were getting to the modem (nothing was even
echoed on the screen). We moved the modem to a REAL PC and still nothing . . .
moved a Hayes 1/2 card to the PC NETWORK machine and everything was fine.
Kermit worked with only having to reset the baud rate to 1200.

The EVEREX has NO DIP switches to set . . . it was set and worked (with the
other comm. programs) on COM1.

Has any netlandians ever heard/seen/gotten working an EVEREX 1/2 card modem?

There are known problems with the original distribution of
MSKermit V2.29 and some internal modems. Your best bet is to
check your local Kermit source for a later version. If it's
not yet available, be patient and drop back to your previous
	version -- without VT102 emulation :-(
