[comp.dcom.modems] uucp through Bytcom modem ?

ospwd@emory.UUCP (03/21/87)

I am trying to do UUCP through a Bytcom 24/12ADH modem. MNP v1.19 is
installed, but is disabled via AT\N0. The modem seems to work fine for
dialup as a terminal to other modems, but when attempting to do UUCP
through it, uucico fails to ever get the protocol started. Finally
uucico gets an alarm and quits. UUCP succeeds through other modems,
such as the US Robotics Password.

Is there some trick to doing UUCP through this Bytcom modem or does it
just not support it?

Please send responses directly to me and I will summarize to the
net if appropriate.

Check the modem manual (or watch the modem with a data scope) to
determine if it is using some type of in-band flow control (e.g. ^S/^Q
handshaking). UUCP's "g" protocol will NOT work without a completely
data transparent 8 bit channel, and in-band flow control screws that up.
