We've recently begun an application that requires error-free data
transmission over voice grade phone lines (probably at 2400bps). I've
been looking around for suitable modems and have noticed that several
of them support the MNP protocol for error detection. Where can I get
more specific information about MNP? In particular, I have a few
questions:
-- What is the actual MNP protocol?
-- How many versions are out there, and are they compatible?
-- How reliable is it?
-- Would I still need a software packetizing/error checking layer?
Also, will a 2400bps modem with MNP speak to a 2400bps modem with MNP
from a different manufacturer? Any suggestions for a particular modem?
Thanks in advance,
