Hi.. We just obtained a fastcomm 9600 turbo modem (300-19.2k baud) , and since we don't have any uucp connections using these modems, I don't know if they work with uucp. I do know that at speeds above 2400 baud, about the only protocols that don't clash with their built in error correction is something called ymodem/g and the ever excellent zmodem. This is a real pain for me,not being able to turn off the error correction though.. If anyone has the source to "ymodem/g" (I believe it's ymodem with all error correction routines removed) I would also love to have it. Any comments (?) -- Len Rose -* Netsys Public Access Network *- The East Coast Machine 301-540-3656,3657,3658,3659 3B2/Unix SV3.0

I'm not sure how germane it is to this discussion, but the new version of
PROCOMM (probably 3.0) is reported by Datastorm to include YMODEM-G protocol.
I was wondering what other comm programs had this available, and would also be
interested in source. Unfortunately (for many) Procomm does not have source
available and is for MS-DOS machines.

I wouldn't recomment YMODEM-g for the typical Unix system because most will
lose characters at high speeds, an error from which YMODEM-g cannot recover.
The rz/sz ZMODEM programs from comp.sources.unix recently are much better to
high speed transfers with Unix.
