Has any Ven-Tel modem user heard of, or experienced, a call originate
connection problem ONLY in 1200 baud when calling up someone using a
AVATEX (or maybe a CERMETEK) modem?
What I have occurring is:
Immediately after the connection is made, no further data transmissions
arrive from the host, although I can see that I am still able to
transmit to him and the line conditions are fine. All other 1200 baud
originate calls work fine to any other modem and stepping back to 300
baud even works for this one as well! So it is unique to 1200 baud and
my Ven-Tel calling up this modem only! (When using a Hayes to the same
modem, I experienced no problems.....)
Someone had mentioned that either a frequency shift or signal strength
change occurs from this modem that allegedly puts my Ven-Tel into the
self-test loopback test mode and thus prohibits futher normal data
input to the Ven-Tel. Does anyone know the real scoop on this??
I will be dissappointed if this is a known problem with the Ven-Tel,
since PC Magazine rated this Ven-Tel 1200 as the 2nd best out of 75
modems tested in the call originate mode!!!!!
Email or post any info as you see fit....
