I have a pair of Microcom AX/96c modems (sorry, they aren't in front of me know so I don't know the exact numbers) whih I need to configure for use on 2 Sun systems. The modems have a bunch of different options and register settings, and I was hoping that others who already have similar modems may be able to help me with the settings (much in the same way as configuration information on the Telebit Trailblazers was recently posted to the net). It would save me a lot of time (and probably frustration) if I didn't have to decipher the manual and test all the different settings. The modems will mainly be used for high speed uucp transfers. The files that are to be sent will mostly be database data files, converted to ascii and then compressed (we've updating the database on the remote with the changes from the local one). I mention this because I know that the Microcom modems have data compression built in, and I'm not sure whether there would be any advantage to leave the file uncompressed and let the modem do it's internal compression. The other users will be for dialout (tip or equiv.), either at 9600 baud to the remote system or a lower (1200/2400) baud rate to another system, and lastly possibly for dialin at probably 1200 or 2400 baud. As I said I can probably figure everything out myself just by reading the manual and playing with the modems, but I'd rathr not reinvent the wheel if at all possible.
