 We have seen the same problem with Hayes 2400 baud modems.  Enough to send
two of them back for repair.  I must say that Hayes was quick to fix and since
they have a three year warranty it was free.

My Conroy-LaPointe Supermodem 2400 had the exact same symptoms. It's
in the shop right now. According to the tech, the voltage regulator
has died. It died because the power supply was putting out the wrong
voltage!!!

He thinks the supply failed, I just think nasty thoughts about the guy I
bought it from (at a swap meet).
