Is there any known problem in running UUCP over modems in MNP mode? I've noticed that UUCP consistantly fails between either a Robotics or a Trailblazer talking to a Racal Vadic 2400 baud modem in MNP mode. If I force the modems not to select MNP mode there is no problem. I am not talking about a problem during MNP negotiation at the beginning of the connection. What I see is a bad header maybe 5 minutes into the transfer, followed by lot of alarms. My side keeps resending the last packet at the alarms, but the other side looks not to be sending anything back. It sounds a little bit like a flow control problem on the remote side, but it doesn't happen unless MNP is on. There is no problem in just shutting off MNP. I don't know how much (if anything) it buys with UUCP. Its just one extra complication in dealing with other sites, and I would like it better if UUCP would work independently of whether MNP is turned on or not. Before I start staring at a data analyzer to run down the problem, does anyone have any ideas? -- Ken Mandelberg | {decvax, sun!sunatl, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Emory University | km@emory BITNET Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.ARPA ARPA,CSNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: (404) 727-7963
