Hello! I've got a few questions for you network experts about LANs for IBM PCs. First, the short term possibility: What would be the best way to connect 3 - 5 PC XTs without a dedicated file server in order to allow access of files on one machine from another without transferring the file? Ideally, simultaneous file access (databases) would be nice, but is not immediately necessary. For the long term: Any suggestions on a LAN to connect 200 - 300 PC XTs for file sharing (pri- marily) and peripheral sharing? I know I'll need at least an AT for a dedicated file server; but, somehow I think an AT would be the minimum required - any ideas on a better server? Also, it would be nice to be able to connect Apples, etc. Other requirments would be a good E-mail system and maybe a net-wide calendar/scheduling system of some kind. If you haven't guessed already - this is for office automation. Also any ideas on features to look for in a larger scale LAN would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
