Sorry to have to post this, but I couldn't get it to go to the fellow who posted the query. ------- Gordon, I am somewhat familiar with the AJ1234 modem. I've used one in the past. In fact we probably have one around here somewhere. The problems you are having are to be expected with the AJ since they were based on a 1200bps standard that was developed before Bell 212 and it is not compatible. The transmit and receive carriers are a different frequency than Bell 212 (although 1205 might work) and the modulation may be different as well (I'm not sure, it's been awhile). We have a set of modems here that can adapt to either the old AJs or Bell 212s and 103s. So for us such a modem can be used, but unless you have a modem that can answer at the right frequency you're out of luck. Bill Ranck VPI&SU
