This is a 2400 baud modem, which as far as I can tell is implemented in low scale stuff. It has front panel controls and indicators, and also has a limited Hayes command set (no S registers) for autodialing. The problem is: the autodialer doesn't work reliably. In the middle of dialing sequences, the modem will suddenly stop dialing and tell me there is no carrier. On occasions when the system is actually dialed all the way, the modem will tell me "no ring", even after the other site has rung, answered, and put a tone on the line. The modem works fine when manually dialled. Does anyone have any experience with these modems? Any ideas as to what might be happening? I use pulse dial, and I thought perhaps it could be noise from the relay coil affecting logic circuits, but I haven't checked this out yet. (And I am not sure how to do this, anyway.) Tracy Tims
