I have a problem with my telebit trailblazer that seems very strange. When I dial out from the trailblazer to a 2400 baud modem(maybe 1200 as well) I hear the 1200 baud carrier, then the 2400 baud carrier, and then the hissing sound they usually make just before connecting. Many times the trailblazer will produce a "hooting" sound out the speaker and trash the connection. I thought at first that this was a problem with my feed's modems, but when I dialed out on the tb+ and back into my multitech 224e, I got the same symptom. This tends to say that it is the tb+, and not the desti nation modem. Has anyone had these symptoms? I have rev 4 firmware now, but it did the same thing with 3.0. And not only when calling other brands of modems, but even when calling a TB+ (rev. 3.0 or 4.0) with the calling TB's S50=3. In my case S95=2 (on both calling and called TB's), haven't tried it with S95=0 yet. But the described problem also occurs when calling a 2400 modem that doesn't have MNP. -- Piet Beertema, CWI, Amsterdam (piet@cwi.nl)
