I'm having a problem getting my system to drop dtr on the modem line. Up until now, it hasn't really been a problem as I could just turn it off and then back on, but now I'm trying to get uucp up so I don't want the thing to not disconnect after doing a long distance transfer. If I boot up with DOS, dtr drops fine after using any of the communication programs. But when I boot xenix, the first time I access the modem, dtr goes high and stays there forever. ckermit will drop dtr temporarally after disconnecting from a call, but as soon as I exit ckermit, it goes high again. Does anyone have any ideas for me on this? I'm booting both OS's on the same PC AT, so I don't see how it could be hardware that's causing the problem. I also have the modem configured to NOT force dtr. PLEASE HELP!!! Perhaps you have a getty or uugetty process active on the port? It expects incoming calls whenever the modem is not in use, so it asserts dtr all of the time, to enable auto-answer of incoming calls. It should lower dtr momentarily when a caller logs off, and then re-assert dtr and hold it high. -- Dave Levenson Westmark, Inc. Perhaps it might be something as obvious as using the disable command on tty1A? When Xenix boots it will restore DTR to whatever state is indicated in /etc/ttys. You should disable and enable the ports before and after using a comm program such as kermit. -- Bob Leffler - EDS, GM Truck & Bus Account (313)456-5375 bob@rel.eds.com or {uunet!edsews, rutgers, umix}!rel!bob Opinions expressed may not be those of my employer.
