[comp.dcom.modems] Should I buy an Everex EMAC-MD2400?

ostroff@oswego.Oswego.EDU (Boyd Ostroff) (06/09/88)

I have the opportunity to buy a new Everex EMAC MD2400 (300/1200/2400 baud,
external) modem for $180.00. Does anyone have experiences with this unit
(good or bad) to share? I want to use it primarily for UUCP dial out
at 2400 baud on an AT&T 3B1 Unix PC. The price certainly sounds good.

The product description states "adaptive equalization is standard, to deliver
fewer errors under difficult phone line conditions." Is this true? Would
this technique help even when talking to a "regular" 1200 baud modem?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
