For a few weeks now I have tried unsuccessfully to set up a direct phone call connection between our U.S. and West German office using a Hayes 1200B external modem with the V-Series enhancer. We can hear the modems connect, but no connect message prints on the terminal screen, and we can see the modem and enhancer frantically exchanging data, then hang up. Does anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong; more importantly, is there someone in the US with a V-Series modem or enhancer who would let me call his modem for some experiments.
