This machine is an 80386 clone running Microport SysV/386 with a couple of 2400 modems that work just fine. I'd like to let HDB's chat scripts do more of the work of calling PC Pursuit, connecting us to the proper city, trying again if busy, etc etc. I'm new at this but THERE's GOTTA BE A WAY! Here's what I've done so far: In the Dialcodes file I've made an entry for each city and the corresponding access code. For example PCAtlanta will translate into D/GAATL/12. I've made an entry in our Devices file for device type PCP. It duplicates one of our other modems and has the word pursuit in the last field instead of "hayes" or "direct". There's only one so we'll never get more than one PCPursuit call at a time. In the Dialers file I've made an entry for pursuit. This line contains the initialization string for the modem, its responses, the hardcoded number for our local Telenet connection, enough double quotes and dashes to bring up the at sign prompt, and a line that transmits C\s\T,OUR_ID_NUMBER,OUR_PASSWORD\r (the \T gets the dialcode for the city from the Dialcodes file), PCP's CONNECTED prompt, a string to transmit ATZ and a string for PCP's OK prompt. In the Systems file for each machine I want to call there's a line like this: sysname Wk1800-0600,Sa,Su PCP 1200 PCAtlanta "" ATDTLOCAL_NUMBER CONNECT followed by the system's login name and password. Now, when I want to call one of these systems it works! BUT it doesn't have enough sense to try again if it gets BUSY messages back from the first stage of dialing or to try again if it gets NO CARRIER or BUSY from the second stage. My question to the net: Has someone come up with a better way? PLEASE EMAIL responses. I'll post a summary of replies, unless all the mail tells me that this has been hased to death before I had enough sense to sign up for the service :-)!
