[comp.dcom.modems] Info and thanks

dewey@execu.UUCP (Dewey Henize) (09/16/88)

I'd like to thank all those that responded to my plea for help and advice
in setting up our telebits to our sun server. To be honest, the response
was astounding!

For those that are interested in the result, I basically followed up the
setup that telebit gives out with a few minor mods (thanks especially to
Richard Siegel). When all the system config stuff is taken care of, I
put in the recommended string:
 AT &F S51=254 S52=2 S54=3 S110=1 S111=30 S45=0 S58=0 S53=3 Q6 &W
and found that I was basically almost there. There was a bit of problem
with the sun thinking the return code should be a pretty low number, so
that had to be shut down (X0) and the echos from the trailblazer confused
the silly uucico so that had to go (E0). My modems were defaulting to use
long replies and the sample L.sys entries used short, so I made that change
(V0). But don't misunderstand, with the info that was sent it was really
relatively straightforward (musta been, if *I* could get it to work), and
that's basically an indication that the info was GOOD info.

I tried to thank everyone who responded with private mail, but some bounced
and some I think I lost so here's a big thank you to all the good folks that
pitched in. It was muchly appreciated.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, to call non-telebit sites I've got S66=1 set as well
and it seems to work (locks speed on the interface).
